Re: Input Ad Hoc Committee meeting June 30th Proposed CE Changes
From: Claire Marie Miller,NC LMT #580
Owner and Director of Claire Marie Miller Seminars, NCBTMB CE provider # # 049535-00
With 35 years in the field of massage therapy and a CE provider since 1990, I have followed and adopted all the changes, and regulations all along the way.
The changes with CE courses that are being proposed by FSMTB are changing again the landscape of massage again!!!
I really wish there was some efficiency here and keep what is working rather then changing the rules again…..
Who does this really serve, a few who are proposing this change,
Both therapists and educators have an excellent system that is working. Again…. Why are you changing what is working.
I just finished my recertification with NCBTMB as a provider and I am approved till 2017. Now, I do not know how my job as a CE provider is going to change. Of if it will still exist.
On June 30th, 2014 your ad hoc committee is meeting on the proposed changes to the continuing education statute (Rule .0700) and receiving the recommendations made by the FSMTB committee. Please consider that these decisions will deeply impact many of us and our livelihood’s as well as what is potentially available for many NC LMBT’s to have access to in choosing CE classes. You sit with many of these decisions and as a member of the NC Coalition of Massage and Bodywork Instructors, we want to help shape and have input into the very thing that will determine our profession’s wellbeing as both Educators and Therapists.
A a member of the NC Coalition of Massage and Bodywork Instructors, I will continue to work with our organization to promote the best education for LMT’s in North Carolina and nationwide.
Thank you for your time,
Claire Marie Miller

Don’t forget to send your letter to the Board! You all had some dynamite comments- let’s not keep it all to ourselves.
Here is what I have heard about the ad hoc committee meeting on Monday June 30th-
The meeting will be from 10 - 5 pm. The anticipated agenda is:
Morning: Call to order, Spend the morning doing 30-min individual sessions with each of the invited non-board members
Break for Lunch
Afternoon: Group work. The board members and non-board members will work
together going over emailed proposals (these include those from Rick Rosen,
Laura Allen, Nancy Toner Weinberger, Coalition of Massage and Bodywork CE
Instructors, and any LMBTs)
Both Holly and Ed strongly encouraged sending our opinions about the proposed changes to the continuing education statute (Rule .0700) digitally.
Letters need to be send by Friday to admin@bmbt.org
I posted on our website-
Coalition letter to the Board
Letters from me, Robert Wooton, Anita Shannon to the Board.
Larry greens comments about organizational power struggle.
I will post letters you send if you copy me, so members can see what was written. I am not sure what of the commentary I should post if anything, or was that pretty much for our eyes only? I am thinking of discontinuing the Forum since key members have never gotten on there, and email seems to be the preferred mode of conversation. The only thing really that is on the Forum that is not on the website is links to all of the meeting videos. I am reluctant to put those up on the website, but I can share the links by email. I would only ask that the links be kept confidential to our group only. Thoughts on this please?
I will ask Holly about scheduling another meeting with us after the ad Hoc committee meeting. Should we try for an online meeting or an in person meeting? Please suggest dates and times that work for you if you are wishing to attend.
I am going to be traveling June 29-July 4 and right back out again from July 9-22. So it needs to be after July 22nd.

Nancy Toner Weinberger
